Claymore is a dark, revenge themed anime series that follows the story of Clare, a human-yoma hybrid. The anime is still one of the most watched series on Netflix, even after 17 since its initial release. In this article, I’ll be ranking the best and the strongest Claymore characters of all time.

The following list is ranked based on the character’s popularity. They are not ranked according to their powers and abilities.

As a female dominant series, there are very few male characters in Claymore. So, only 2 of them made it to this list.

With that out of the way, let’s jump into the listing!

12. Galatea

Galatea is a female Claymore character who is ranked No. 3 in Clare’s generation. She earned the title “God-Eye” for her brilliant Yoki perception.

She deserts the Organization, becoming a blind nun named Sister Latea in Rabona.

Galatea, with a dignified and arrogant demeanor, takes pride in her appearance and power, often using wit and sarcasm in battles.

After a seven-year time skip, she hides in Rabona, caring for orphaned children.

Despite a softer side emerging, she retains some vanity and serves as a maternal guide to other Claymores.

Her Yoki perception aids in understanding others emotionally and psychologically.

11. Rafaela

  • Alias: The One eyed warrior

Rafaela is one of the strongest side characters in Claymore. She is ranked No. 2 in Luciela’s generation and No. 5 in Clare’s. She pursued Irene and eventually fought with her.

Her power matches her elder sister, Luciela. As one of the longest-lived Claymores, Rafaela is emotionally reserved, independent, and solitary.

She hides her past, feeling shame. Rafaela is burdened by guilt over her sister’s fate, yet she retains the mental strength to erase her Yoki and, later, to confront and kill her sister, despite being upset by it.

10. Luciela

Luciela, Claymore No. 1 of her generation, and her sister Rafaela, No. 2, underwent the Organization’s initial Soul Link experiment.

The experiment failed, causing Luciela’s complete Awakening, leading to the death of many Claymores.

Eventually, she became the Abyssal One of the South, earning her the label “The Failed Experiment.”

Similar to the other Abyssal Ones, Luciela is territorial and seeks to conquer the island.

She displays wit in banter with Isley. Unlike her counterparts, she has no allies, disliking groups.

Despite being antisocial, she cares for her sister Rafaela, crying out of happiness upon reunion.

Luciela’s desire to reclaim the South overshadows her love for Rafaela, missing Rafaela’s deep-seated regret.

9. Isley

Isley is one of the first male Claymore character introduced in the series. He held the position of Claymore No. 1 in the first generation, a time when male warriors were emerging.

He awakened, becoming the Abyssal One of the North.

After defeating Luciela, he also seized control of the South. He earned the title “White Silver King.”

Isley’s character portrayed a dual nature. While appearing polite and cheerful, it might have masked his cruel side.

He showed indifference to sacrificing his Awakened Being army, including Rigardo.

Isley claimed to dislike group actions but cared for Raki and Priscilla, treating them as family. His death expressed a wish for his family’s longer existence.

8. Riful

Riful, an unranked warrior of Isley’s first generation and Claymore No. 1 of the first all-female generation, reached great heights.

She Awakened, becoming the Abyssal One of the West, known as “Riful of the West” and “Empress Riful.”

Living in Lautrec’s western region with her consort, Dauf, she maintained a whimsical and child-like appearance.

She often acting polite and cheerful even when threatening. Despite displaying hints of sadism, it was for strategic purposes.

She showed anger and shed tears when faced with imminent death, revealing a complex personality.

Riful, tough on Dauf, genuinely cared for his well-being. Additionally, she was perceptive and intelligent, easily assessing others’ power levels, skills, and talents.

7. Priscilla

  • Alias: One-Horned Monster

Priscilla is an evil female character in Claymore who started out as a good person.

She was ranked Claymore No. 2 of Teresa’s generation, and was the series’ second most potent character. Her powers far surpasses that of Abyssals.

Despite immense potential, she Awakened during a mission, becoming the series’ main antagonist.

Initially childlike and emotionally distraught, Priscilla developed an aloof, sadistic personality after Awakening.

6. Helen

Helen, No. 22 of the 135th Claymore generation, was known for her hot temper and rebellious yet humorous nature.

Despite grim situations, she remains optimistic and tries to lighten the mood.

Compared to all the other Claymore characters, she showed more emotions. This makes her a fan favorite!

5. Miria

Miria is one of the strongest female characters in Claymore. She is held the 6th position in the 127th generation of Claymores.

Known as “Phantom Miria,” her incredible speed and strategic planning skills make her a standout leader. She cares deeply for the lives of Claymores, recognizing them as victims of the Organization.

4. Deneve

  • Alias: Deneve of the Twin Swords

Deneve, from the 135th generation, held the 15th position in the Organization.

Though partially Awakened, she successfully reverted to normal. Known for her calm yet serious demeanor, Deneve is a perfectionist with superb regeneration and unique skills.

Originally a standard Claymore, she adopted one of her fallen captain’s Claymores as a tribute.

3. Raki

Raki is the main male character in Claymore. Clare saved Raki from a Yoma attack that took his family.

They formed a strong bond, which evolves into romantic feelings. Raki joined Clare, becoming a part of the “Seven Ghosts” after a seven-year time skip.

Trusting and protective, Raki cares deeply for Clare and others, defying judgments about Claymores and Awakened Beings.

2. Teresa

Teresa, formerly No. 1 among the Organization’s 77th generation, holds the 182nd position.

She’s one of the elite No. 1 warriors, surpassing Abyssal Ones. Miria and other Claymores recognize her as the strongest No. 1 ever.

She is praised for her unparalleled combat ability, Yoki sensing, and reserves.

Even facing awakened beings like Rosemary or nearly awakened Priscilla, she effortlessly overpowered them with a mere ten-percent energy release.

Clare is hands down the best female character in Claymore. She is Organization’s No. 47 in the 150th generation.

Unlike others, Clare voluntarily became a Claymore, undergoing an experiment to create a stronger warrior.

This experiment, taking the flesh and blood of a fellow Claymore, resulted in her being 1/4 Yoma.

Despite initial weaknesses and the lowest rank, No. 47, Clare, through her efforts and support, achieved significant power.

She stands as one of the first partially Awakened Beings.
