Plaion Pictures has acquired the German Publisher KSM back in 2019. Since then they were able to up their already good quality in terms of packaging, localisation and licences while lowering prices. I am curious to see how the new ownership of Anime LTD will affect both.

I was under the impression that AL was doing well enough to stay afloat by itself and that their team took pride in being the largest independent anime distributor in the UK, so I have to say I’m quite surprised by these news. I mean, I guess it’s at least a good thing that it’s not Crunchyroll? Such an acquisition by a corporation best known for video games is something I never in a million years would’ve expected though.

Well, as long as the quality of the Blu-ray releases stays high I’ll be satisfied. Who knows, maybe this could signal the brand’s expansion into continental Europe (apart from France where they already operate) – they already announced Macross Plus as a wider license last summer.

I agree with the guy above. As long as it’s not Crunchyroll at this point.
