Genre – Girl’s Love, Romance, Gyaru, Music, School Life.

‘The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All’ Plot

The short series depicts the story of a popular gyaru who falls in love with a guy who turns out to be a girl.

Oosawa loves rock music, but her friends find her choice of music strange, which is why she doesn’t have anyone to share her love for rock music with.

At the record shop she sometimes goes to, there’s someone she can’t get her mind off. The guy is always wearing a mask and dresses head to toe in black. He even listens to the same type of music she loves.

But, she doesn’t realize that the guy she has a crush on is actually her classmate who sits right next to her, Koga-san.

Though Koga knows that Oosawa mistakes her for a boy, she just can’t find a way to tell her the truth.

Soon, they start to bond over their love for rock music.

‘The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All’ Characters

Aya Oosawa

Oosawa is a 17-year-old high school girl. She is a trendy and popular gyaru who loves listening to rock music. For her, music has always been something she can only listen to by herself.

She doesn’t have the best grades. She is very friendly, has many friends, and is very popular with the boys at school, but has no interest in them whatsoever. Some people think she’s too cold towards others.

She’s not usually interested in dating, but she ended up falling for Koga because of her sense of style and her taste in music.

Mitsuki Koga

Koga is in the same class as Oosawa and sits right next to her. She loves black stuff.

In school, she looks like a gloomy, boring girl because of her shy, quiet, and reserved personality. She works part-time at her uncle’s record shop and always wears a black mask while working.

Koga wears glasses in school but prefers to use contact lenses at work for easier mask-wearing.

She doesn’t like wearing skirts and prefers to wear boy clothes.

Koga’s Uncle

I don’t remember his name, plus I don’t think his name has been mentioned yet. But, he is my favorite character in the manga.

He’s always concerned for his niece because she doesn’t have many friends. He’s really supportive of the possible relationship between Koga and Oosawa.

My Thoughts About ‘The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All’

Manga with gyaru girls are one of my favorites. Mix that with Girl’s love and you’ve got my attention.

The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at all is one the best in the genre that I’ve read. No manga artist has the right to make their characters this hot/cute.

From the very first chapter, you can tell that it’s going to be a future diamond.

The author did an amazing job using the yellow-green color in an otherwise black-and-white manga. The green background was pretty groovy, and this was my first time seeing something like that. The art alone makes this manga unforgettable.

The story is a really cute and fluffy romance with not too much drama. I usually hate unnecessary misunderstandings, but this one, rather than being annoying, is really funny and important for the story.

The characters’ personalities are lovable, and the interaction between them is really cute. Oosawa gets really awkward and nervous while talking to Koga.

Koga, on the other hand, is so cool that she even ends up earning the nickname “Prince”.

The pacing of the story is also great, and nothing feels rushed or forced.

Solid humor, great romance, amazing art, and fluffy yuri. I love everything about this manga.

If you like GL romance manga, then I highly recommend this one.
