- Black Beacon, the upcoming anime-inspired RPG from Glohow, has launched a new global open beta
- Developed by Mingzhou Network Technology it’s described as being inspired by subculture
- Those around the world, excluding select regions, can get their hands on it for the first time today
With 2025 now well and truly underway there are a lot of big launches on the horizon. And one that’s popped up a couple of times in our coverage is Glohow’s self-described anime-inspired subculture RPG Black Beacon. Now, what does all that mean? We’re not sure, but you’ll be able to find out soon because Black Beacon is launching into global open beta!
That means from January 8th to the 17th you’ll be able to get your mitts on the upcoming RPG, aside from if you’re in select regions such as China, Japan or Korea. You’ll be able to try out Black Beacon’s launch build, with a bevvy of core features and exciting in-game events to enjoy.
And that’s not all! For participating and (hopefully) providing feedback you’ll be able to grab some other nifty rewards. Simply attending means you can get exclusive items just for showing up, while Push Rewards means that checking in during the testing period is crucial to see what else is up for grabs.
Flooring it
I’m always a little bit sceptical about releases that profess to be inspired by something as ephemeral as subculture, and while Black Beacon does look visually quite clean I’m struggling to find something that makes it stand out. Well, regardless that’s not to say anything bad about what its enjoyability is, but I suppose if you want to find out you’ll just have to try it for yourself, right?
You can check out Black Beacon’s official GBT guidebook to see how to sign up and play on either iOS or Android.
But if Black Beacon isn’t for you, don’t fret, because 2025 is already shaping up to be a great year for new releases! Why not check out our list of the best mobile games of the year to find out more?
