I AM ABLE TO SHINE
“I AM ABLE TO SHINE” gives kids the ability to find their own “shine” and accept themselves for who they are. Not just to accept, but to find what makes them special and help change the world. It’s a very heartfelt book with a message everyone (even adults) need to hear from time to time.
THE BEST GIFT FOR BEAR
“THE BEST GIFT FOR BEAR” makes any gift giver smile whether or not it’s for the holidays or not. There are many kids who just don’t know what gift to give parents or friends, teachers or guardians. What makes this book so relatable is how the gift thought process goes. That how how adorable each page is, showing kids how thoughtfulness comes in all different shapes and sizes.
I AM QUIET: A STORY FOR THE INTROVERT IN ALL OF US
Not everyone can easily be an extrovert. And not every introvert is someone who is shy or standoffish. In Andie Powers’ “I AM QUIET: A STORY FOR THE INTROVERT IN ALL OF US” we are reminded time and time again that the stereotype of an introvert should never exist. Kids who are introverted will be so happy to see themselves in this book which would be great for teachers to read aloud together with a class.
CHILDREN OF STARDUST
A perfect read for anyone who wants to jump into a space adventure and get immersed within the universe. Memorable characters that one day need their own series on Cartoon Network or Disney!
WOMBAT SAID COME IN
This book is perfect for kids who want to learn more about helping others during extreme situations. With a focus on Australian bushfires the book shows how scared the characters are and how one kind wombat offers his home as a safe place to stay during the scary fire.
Perfect for anyone who has handled natural disasters before and also a great way to learn about doing your part in helping your community stay safe.
THIS STORY IS NOT ABOUT A KITTEN
Not only will this book humble you as it teaches about generosity, but you will get teary-eyed. Trust us. The honest truth about generosity is lending a helping hand for those in need, but also spreading that love with others. One of the most beautiful books published today!
TELL THE TRUTH PANGOLIN
One of the best books about being honest, telling the truth and having the courage to confess. Great for parents wanting to teach their children about honesty or just a great book to feel comforted by the illustrations.
HOW TO EAT A BOOK
If you’re a book lover you will want to jump inside of this one! Paying homage to the beauty, wonder and exploration of books “HOW TO EAT A BOOK” will warm a book lover’s heart and be the perfect gift for a librarian.
CAN I PET YOUR DOG?
When you see a dog in the city, park, or even a sidewalk you want to pet it right? “CAN I PET YOUR DOG?” takes that exact topic but makes it into an adorable book. People also always say in video games if you can’t pet a dog it will not become a popular game. Let’s make this a trope in books like “CAN I PET YOUR DOG?” to prove how dogs need lots of TLC but we as humans love to give those furry friends a good pat for just being…well…dogs.
Jeremy Nguyen made this a relatable book that all ages can enjoy together. Especially dog lovers!
GREEN IS FOR CHRISTMAS
Drew Daywalt ALWAYS delivers with the iconic Crayons and this time “GREEN IS FOR CHRISTMAS” becomes a holiday favorite. Not only will the charming illustrations teach kids about Christmas colors but will make them want to color their own Christmas pictures too (or “GREEN IS FOR CHRISTMAS” printables).
Cute, educational and a great way to do your own coloring activities during Christmas!
I CAN’T DRAW
Learning to draw can be fun but also a little scary when you’re first starting out. Which is why art should be about “community” and growth. There’s a lot that creativity can bring to the table and it’s not just amazing pieces of art. It’s friendship.
“I CAN’T DRAW” is almost like a love letter to new and upcoming artists who are afraid to take the next step. It shows you how asking for help can be beneficial for both parties and now just the budding artist.
A great book with amazing lessons. Would be fantastic to see “I CAN’T DRAW” as a PBS Kids show one day based on what kids can learn from asking for help to learning to overcome personal challenges.
NO SNOWBALL!
“NO SNOWBALL!” is one of the most relatable cat vs kitten books in all of catdom. No seriously! Cats are queens. They are rulers. They expect to be pampered by their humans. But what about kittens? Showcasing brilliant humor and adorable cat cuteness, you’re to get a lot of laughs in this one from Isabella Kung.
Have a cat? You know what it’s like when a new family member joins the home.
LADY PANCAKE & SIR FRENCH TOAST: THE GREAT CAPER CAPER
If you’re a fan of Josh Funk’s work you KNOW that humor and wit is key. This time in the “LADY PANCAKE & SIR FRENCH TOAST” universe, our trusty duo (and their friends) go on a Whodunit case teaching kids about clues, investigations and teamwork. Parents will love reading this aloud since Josh Funk’s writing always has a mix of imagination for both kids and adults. Easy to make crafts, printables and some games out of #5 in the series. Pinterest Moms will have a ball with this one!
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: DUNGEON CLUB – ROLL CALL
Molly Knox Ostertag has one of the best voices for middle grade fiction in the last few years and “DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: DUNGEON CLUB – ROLL CALL” shines. If you’ve ever experienced Dungeons and Dragons or any form of roleplay you know how creative of an experience it is. Not only are you able to escape into worlds beyond worlds and go on an adventure with friends, but you find parts of yourself that you were never confident enough to embrace before.
“DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: DUNGEON CLUB – ROLL CALL” captures that. To escape and create but to truly accept parts of yourself, while discovering new confidence, ideas, self-acceptance and friendships. All of this is possible with Dungeons & Dragons, and Molly Knox Ostertag shows kids and adults alike that TTRPG is not just a game, but a way to carve a new path of light for yourself and carry that torch of love and creativity with friends.
MY AUNT IS A MONSTER
The take on showcasing such an original cast of characters while also making those characters not be guided by any character tropes makes “MY AUNT IS A MONSTER” stand out. The cast, story and overall design gives more vibes of an animation on Cartoon Network, which based on the story alone should become an animated series.
TRUCKER KID
“TRUCKER KID” is one of those gems that teach kids that sometimes nicknames aren’t just nicknames. Express yourself. Express your love for your parents, their jobs and your family! This is “Galaxy-Boy Delivery” from All Ages of Geek and we 100% recommend “TRUCKER KID” because of how honest the writing is about self-expression without a preachy tone to it.
Athena as a character is also a great voice for truckers and their work. “TRUCKER KID” does not shy away from how much work truckers need to do and how it impacts their family. The illustrations also compliment the writing as Ekster tells this heartwarming story while also making it both educational and impactful for kids and adults.
SOME DADDIES
We’re “Galaxy-Boy Delivery” from All Ages of Geek and we’re here to give a review on “SOME DADDIES” which is a book to truly make a dad in your life smile! No matter who your father(s) is (are), even if they are your father figure not related by blood, the bond remains the same. In Carol Gorden Ekster’s “SOME DADDIES” each character represents at least one father figure in someone’s life. This book screams “Happy Father’s Day” and would make a great read aloud for kids all over the world who want to say “Thanks for being my dad” to those guardians in their life.
Easy reading, cute illustrations and a great coffee table book for dads to show off to their other dad friends and even their own book club. Highly recommended since “SOME DADDIES” is also evergreen and can be enjoyed no matter the time of year!
