Summer has officially ended, and with it, many of the anime have also finished. Many shows made a name for themselves, such as Call of the Night and Lycoris Recoil, and there were some shows that we consider hidden gems that we wondered why people aren’t talking enough about them. For example, one anime shows a Yakuza babysitting his boss’s daughter.
What? A Yakuza babysitting? You heard us right! This anime is about the life of a Yakuza and his charge. Kirishima, the second-in-command of a well-known Yakuza group, was suddenly ordered by his boss to be the caretaker of the boss’s daughter, Yaeka. It may seem strange to see a Yakuza babysitting, but the concept was probably why it won our hearts.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that the backbone of this anime is the cute and wholesome interaction between Kirishima and Yaeka. Since being Yaeka’s babysitter, Kirishima has to talk and get to know more about Yaeka to better take care of her. We wonder how this tough Yakuza, known as the Devil throughout the series, interacts with Yaeka. As it turns out, it was different from what we expected. Throughout the series, you will see both Kirishima and Yaeka interact with each other many times, and each time their interaction gets cuter and sweeter. Too cute and sweet that you can’t help but smile in each episode for every interaction they have.
The Yakuza’s Guide to babysitting has a bit more than just being cute and wholesome. They also have some comedy and action scenes that you can find in a Yakuza gang. The biggest, though, would have to be the scenes that are a bit darker and far from the cute scenes you get in this anime. Those scenes were a whole different spectrum from what you would get in a slice-of-life anime, and the anime did not shy away from the dark side of the characters. Because of how cute the anime is, we forget some facts about the anime, the setting, and its characters, and we often take a step back whenever one of the darker scenes appears. Although, they were impactful and gave us more backstory about the characters.
While The Yakuza’s Guide to babysitting may not have a lot of action and such as some of the more trending anime, the sweet interactions between the two main characters can warm anyone’s heart. Although it was a sudden surprise when the sad scenes suddenly turned up, we believed that the sudden change in tone wasn’t too hasty, and we find the anime still enjoyable to watch. So, if you are into slice-of-life anime and are looking for an anime that is a bit more relaxed and wants your heart to melt away, The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting might be the one for you. Just don’t be surprised by a sudden change of tone when it comes to their more sad parts.
