The upcoming Urusei Yatsura reboot anime has revealed a new trailer featuring the theme songs for the anime. The series will air this October 13, and is animated by David Production.
Both songs are performed by the Japanese musical band MAISONdes. The opening song is titled “Aiue” and features Minami and SAKURAmoti. Meanwhile, the ending song is titled “Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous” and features Kaf and Tsumiki.
Takahiro Kamei is credited as the series’ director, with Yasuhiro Kimura and Takahashi Hideya as directors. Yuuko Kakihara is doing the series composition, and Naoyuki Asano is on the character designs. Recently, the anime revealed three more cast members: Kenta Miyake, Takahiro Sakurai, and Marina Inoue are joining aa Onsen-Mark, Tsubame Ozuno, and Ryoko Mendo respectively. Urusei Yatsura is based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, and was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday. Prior to the upcoming reboot, it received an anime adaptation from Studio Pierrot (episodes 1-106) and Studio Deen (107-195), which aired from October 1981 to March 1986.
Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and describes the plot of Volume 1 as:
In a high-stakes game of tag, Ataru must touch Lum’s horns in ten days—or aliens will take over the earth! The fact that Lum can fly doesn’t make Ataru’s job any easier.
