Chainsaw Man Anime Leak Video Has Fans Worried For Bad CGI

Published on October 2nd, 2022

Chainsaw Man is one of the most anticipated anime of Fall 2022 that will be released on Oct 12. However, a lucky few fans in France got to see the first episode early at a private Crunchyroll premiere event.

One of the attendees recorded a video and posted it on Twitter. The video shows Denji’s first transformation as a Chainsaw Man. The video recording quality is pretty low, but from what we can see, Mappa has heavily used CGI in this scene.

The original recorder posted the video on his Twitter account (even tagging Crunchyroll’s official Twitter account), which became a trend on social media as some fans started comparing this particular Denji’s transformation scene’s CGI to Berserk 2017.

A few hours after the leak was posted on Twitter, Crunchyroll took it down using Copyright, but at that moment, it was too late as multiple other users had already copied and posted it on other platforms. Most fans are skeptical that this is the finished product from Mappa, and since the recording quality is so bad, we can’t say anything for sure.

The video has inspired mixed opinions on social media.

Am I supposed to be impressed? I thought this would be the best production of all time. I thought it would put AKIRA and Ghibli animation to shame. I thought the stages would be as good as Shinkai’s at least. It seems quite mediocre

the cgi looks like the guts cgi, not too impressed but i have faith.

That video’s quality itself is garbage lol, i cant believe people are judging the animation looking at that grainy ass video, to me it just looks like CGI which we knew will be used heavily in csm so it’s nothing new, it’s just different not bad

Bro that chainsaw man cgi looks so bad wtf

I’m not gonna judge too early horrible footage so I’ll wait on official release

I honestly don’t see the problem, people would drop series if it has some cgi

I will say, the Chainsaw Man CGI is definitely very noticeable. I’m not going to be all dramatic but I’m saying this again, it looks very 3D and it STANDS OUT.
